Josiah Smoot
       I Edward Smoot of the County of Fauquier and State of Virginia for the natural love and affection which I have toward my son Josiah Smoot, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, I do give unto the said Josiah Smoot and his heirs the following property (Viz) one Negro boy named Anderson to him the said Josiah Smoot, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns free from the claims of myself and from the claims of all and every person whoever. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of January 1824.

Susannah Smoot
       To whom these presents may come: I Edward Smoot of the County of Fauquier and State of Virginia for the mutual love and affection I bear to my beloved wife Susannah Smoot I freely give and grant to her two Negroes called by their names Joe and Judey and all her increase, also one horse, her choice, also two cows and calves, one side board, one dining table, two beds and furniture, which I freely give and grant to my beloved wife Susannah Smoot forever to dispose of at any time she thinks proper. This property I give clear of any claim or claims whatever, whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the seventeenth day of January 1824.

       I Edward Smoot of the County of Fauquier and State of Virginia for the natural love and affection which I bear towards my son Thomas, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns, I do give unto the said Thomas Smoot and his heirs the following property (Viz) one Negro boy named Jack to him the said Thomas Smoot, his heirs, executors, administrators or assigns free from the claims of myself and from the claims of all and every person whoever.
