    This Indenture made this twelfth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five Between William Norman and Mary his wife Ezekiel Norman and Nancy his wife Leonard Smoot and Milly his wife of the County of Culpeper also of Fauquier of the one part and John Norman of the County of Culpeper of the other part, Witnesseth that the said William Norman and Mary his wife Ezekiel Norman and Nancy his wife Leonard Smoot and Milley his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty five pounds Virginia Money in hand paid them by the said John Norman the receipt of which he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said John Norman all their right and title of a tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Culpeper Bromfield Parish in the little fork of Rappahannock, being the Tract of Land formally belong to Courtney Norman deceas’d whereon the said John Norman now lives Containing one hundred and six acres be the same more or less and bounded by the land of Martin Pickett[?], Christopher Smith, Joseph Brackerey[?] & others To have and to hold the said Tract of land with all its appurtenances to the said John Norman his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of the said John Norman his heir and assigns forever, and the said William and Mary his wife for themselves and their heirs against themselves their heirs and all other persons whatsoever to the said Tract of land and premises as far forth as their right and title will extend to the said John Norman his heir and assigns shall and will forever warrant and defend In Witness whereof the said William Norman and Mary his wife Ezekiel Norman and Nancy his wife Leonard Smoote and his wife hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day month and year above mentioned.

At a Court held for Culpeper County the 21st day of September 1795 --
    This Indenture of Bargain and Sale from William Norman and others to John Norman was partly proved by the oaths of John Minor and Courtney Norman --- of the witness’s thereto and ordained to be Certified and at a Court held for said County the 19th day of October 1795 This said Indenture together with the receipt thereon was fully proven by the oath of Balis Elkin another witness thereto and ordered to be recorded.
